The Student Screenwriting Competition offers Milwaukee high school students with an interest in film and the arts access to professional filmmakers, equipment, and instruction. Students have until December 15, 2007 to submit a one-page idea for a screenplay (a treatment) for a short film along with a completed entry form. Submissions will be reviewed, and the writers of the best concepts will be invited to attend workshops offering insight to screenwriting and filmmaking. Afterwards, students will develop and submit a professional screenplay. Judges will determine the winning screenplay which will be produced into a film, debuting on screen at the 2008 Milwaukee International Film Festival. A mentorship program is also available for students interested in participating in the production of the winning film. For more information or to enter, download a Student Screenwriting Competition entry brochure at http://www.milwaukeefilmfest.org/htmdocs/about_miff/educators_programs/ssc.pdf, or call the MIFF office at (414) 225-9740.
